How to get here

Heading out to Lark Quarry Conservation Park?
No fuel is available, so make sure you fill your tank before you leave Winton! There is a small cafe and shop available on site. 

The direct route to Dinosaur Stampede National Monument from Winton is via the Winton-Jundah Road. It is 110km to Lark Quarry Conservation Park. This road is suitable for conventional vehicles, with approximately 45km of sealed road, and 65km of unsealed road. Check current road conditions with the Winton Visitor Information Centre (Ph 1300 665 115) or the Winton Shire Council (Ph 07 4657 2666) before setting out on your journey. It is recommended that one and a half to two hours is allowed for travel to and from the Conservation Park.

There are several self-drive loops that take in the Dinosaur Trackways, as well as other parts of the Winton Shire. Drop in to the Winton Visitor Information Centre to pick up a brochure. Check out www.experiencewinton.com.au to help plan the rest of your journey.

Finding your way to Winton

Self Drive Information

Dinosaur Stampede National Monument is 110km south-west of Winton, a town of 1,000 residents in Outback Queensland, and 600km south-west of Townsville. The road to the trackways is suitable for conventional vehicles, however 65km of the road is unsealed.

As Dinosaur Stampede National Monument is located at Lark Quarry Conservation Park, the most direct route from Winton is via the Winton-Jundah road.

Check current road conditions with the Winton Visitor Information Centre (1300 665 115) or the Winton Shire Council (+61 7 4657 2666) before setting out on your journey.

Driving to Lark Quarry Conservation Park from Winton will take approximately two hours.

Visiting Dinosaur Stampede National Monument By Air

There is an airstrip located just outside Lark Quarry Conservation Park. Light aircraft can land on the strip. Fly in visitors are requested to make contact with the Programs Co-ordinator located in Winton several days before arrival, as the airstrip is located two kilometres from the Dinosaur Stampede complex, and a pick up will need to be organised.

The airstrip coordinates are 23 – 01 (S), 142 - 25 (e).
